Show Me Credit Union is committed to protecting our members’ privacy, and therefore, will give financial privacy priority status.
Information Collected and Disclosed about Members
Nonpublic personal information about our members is collected from the following sources:
1. Information, such as name, address, and social security number that we receive from the member on applications or other forms.
Information about the member’s transactions with the credit union or others, such as account balance, payment history and credit usage.
2. Information the credit union receives from a consumer-reporting agency, such as creditworthiness and credit history.
3. Information obtained when verifying the information the member provides on an application or other form. This may be obtained from current or past employers, or from other institutions where the member conducts financial transactions.
Show Me Credit Union may disclose all the information collected, as described previously, to companies that perform marketing services on behalf of the credit union or to other financial institutions with which the credit union has joint marketing agreements. To protect members’ privacy, Show Me Credit Union will only work with companies that agree to maintain strong confidentiality protection and limit the use of the information provided. Show Me Credit Union will not permit these companies to sell member information to other third parties.
In order to conduct business, the credit union may also disclose nonpublic personal information about the member under other circumstances as permitted or required by law. These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on behalf of the member, conduct the operations of the credit union, follow member instructions as authorized, or protect the security of the credit union’s financial records.
If a member terminates membership with Show Me Credit Union, the credit union will not share information collected about that member, except as permitted or required by law.
Protecting Members’ Information
Show Me Credit Union restricts access to members’ personal and account information to only those employees who need to know that information in order to provide products or services to the membership. The credit union shall maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard members’ nonpublic personal information.
Members’ Right to Opt Out of Disclosure
If the member does not want Show Me Credit Union to disclose his information to third parties that are not affiliated with the credit union, he may “opt out” of these disclosures. Opting out will not apply to disclosures that are permitted or required by law, or to disclosures to companies that perform marketing services on the behalf of the credit union or to other financial institutions with which the credit union has joint marketing agreements. To opt out, the member shall send Show Me Credit Union a request in writing, signed by all account holders, with the following information:
a. Name(s) as listed on the account.
b. Social Security Number(s)
c. All account number(s) to opt out of
Employee and Volunteer Confidentiality Statement
All employees of Show Me Credit Union will be required to read, understand and sign an Employee Confidentiality Statement, a copy of which follows this policy. Failure to sign the Statement, or to comply with the terms therein, is grounds for immediate termination of employment.
All volunteers for Show Me Credit Union will be required to read, understand and sign a Volunteer Confidentiality Statement, a copy of which follows this policy. Failure to sign the Statement, or to comply with the terms therein, is grounds for immediate termination of duties as a volunteer for Show Me Credit Union.
